Due to food intolerances and a high metabolism, I cannot gain weight easily. While some people may see this as anything but a problem, I find it embarrassing when I suddenly drop weight and look sick. If you have digestive problems such as irritable bowel syndrome or celiac disease, you may know exactly what I’m talking about. So, how can you put on weight if your digestive system is so out of whack? First of all, you need to get it back “in whack”. ;)

Eliminating Problem Foods

If you’re struggling to put on weight no matter how much you eat, you may have one or more food intolerances. Your body is taking in the food you’re eating but it’s not being absorbed properly. If you haven’t already done so, go on an elimination diet to find out what foods you have an allergy or intolerance to. Once you’ve figured out what foods are bothering you, going back to your regular diet with the problem food/foods eliminated should put on weight.
