Adrenal Fatigue: Symptoms and Solutions
When you’re suffering from mystery symptoms that make you feel constantly run-down, you don’t want to hear it’s “all in your head”. Adrenal fatigue is a real syndrome characterized by incredible fatigue not relieved by rest. It can be caused severe stress or a prolonged illness. Learn how to relieve adrenal fatigue naturally.
What is Adrenal Fatigue?
Adrenal fatigue is a collection of signs and symptoms that fall under the classification of a “syndrome”. It is produced when your body’s adrenal glands can no longer effectively meet the demands of stress. The most common symptom of adrenal fatigue is a feeling of extreme tiredness that is not relieved by rest or sleep.
Other symptoms include:
• Craving Salty or Sweet Snacks
• Feeling More Energetic After 6pm
• Difficulty Bouncing Back from Stress
• Mild Depression
• Muscular Weakness
• Frequent Sighing
• Lightheadedness When Rising
• Inability to Handle Foods High in Potassium or Carbohydrates by Themselves
What Causes Adrenal Fatigue?
Though there is no recorded cause of adrenal fatigue, it commonly occurs after periods of great physical or emotional stress or after a long illness.
How is Adrenal Fatigue Diagnosed?
The most common test for adrenal fatigue is saliva testing. You’ll need to spit into vials four times a day and send them to a lab to be analyzed.
You can also do a pupil dilation test. Using a flashlight and a mirror, shine a flashlight into your eye. Your pupil should contract. Wait 30 seconds and check again. If your pupil stays the same or dilates, you may have adrenal fatigue.

Lifestyle Changes
Rest
You’re clinically exhausted. You need lots of rest. Sleep until 9am every day if possible. Lie down on your work breaks even if you have to lay down in the back of your car for 15 minutes to an hour.
Food
Avoid junk food like the plague. Imagine it has a skull and crossbones on it and throw it out or give it away.
Start feeding your body a whole-food diet rich in organic fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish and whole grains. Vegetables are especially important. Eat 4-5 servings each day.
Also, add sea salt to your diet and use it liberally and drink plenty of pure water.
Exercise
Even a short walk or leisurely swim can count as exercise. Don’t overdo it.

Supplements
Vitamin C
Vitamin C helps boost the immune system and strengthen the adrenal glands. Take 2,000 – 5,000 mg each day.
Chelated Magnesium
Magnesium is very important for proper nervous system function and blood pressure stabilization. Adding a chelated magnesium supplement to your diet can also help improve your sleep and energy levels.
Vitamin E
Adrenal fatigue can cause an abundance of free radicals to run rampant in the body and cause further damage. Vitamin E keeps this damage in check by isolating the free radicals before they can cause further problems.
B-Complex Vitamins
B-complex vitamins help restore adrenal function naturally and help support nervous system function.
Licorice Root Extract
Licorice root extract works by blocking the breakdown of hydrocortisone in the liver. This gives your adrenal glands a much-needed rest.
With lots of rest, laughter, mild exercise and supplements, you can heal adrenal fatigue naturally. You’re not alone and you’re not crazy. Give yourself time and patience. Mild adrenal fatigue can take up to 1 year to heal but you’ll be getting better all the time. Don’t give up. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it’s a healthy you.
