Avoiding the Most Common Workout Injuries: Tips

“Stick to the basics” is that golden rule of life which deserves respect from every human being but most of the time, we ignore this rule and as a result, create difficulties for ourselves. Workout in a gym or even at home requires that you remember this golden rule so that you can get in shape in a reasonable time. Here are some tips that would help you in understanding the needs of your body and thus, would help you in avoiding unnecessary injuries.

Consistency is Key:

You cannot turn up in to RAMBO in a week. And you need to control your emotions while working out. It is seen that people start exercising with a dream of having a physique that is similar to any known superstar. But relax; everybody is unique with his own limits. Thus, be consistent and don’t try to exceed your limits.

Know your Gender:

Of course, you know it. But, the focus here is on knowing your anatomy. Men and women exercise with different mind sets. Men dream about a strong muscular build up whereas women prefer a flexible body. Thus, while following a particular workout schedule, you need to have an in depth knowledge about your anatomy. This would help you in gaining better results.

Divide your schedule into smaller goals:

Specify a limit while working out. Of course, you need to push yourself and be comfortable with heavy weights as the time goes on. But, what is more important is lifting up a particular weight to the favorable limit that your body is comfortable with.

Leave your worries with a trainer:

Whether it is motivation for continuous workout or knowing the exact limits of your body, a personal trainer is the best option to accomplish both these goals so that you are taken care of consistently. A trainer would also keep a track record of your diet and this is an added advantage as you also need to feed your body with enough vital nutrients in order to be full of energy while working out.

Remember “Warming up”:

It is good to save time but don’t just jump to lift weights straight away. Your body would get in shape only when it is warmed up. Hence, go for a jog or sprint so that your body heats up and gets ready for exercise. When you warm up, your muscles open up and are prone to flexibility and this helps you in giving them the desired shape. Warming up also reduces the risk of injuries that may harm you during workout as the heat allows you to go on without feeling stressed.

If you’re 40, don’t try to be 20:

Age is a factor that slows down the speed of your body and slowly starts reducing the weight lifting capacity. It is good to have endurance in abundance but you also need to be in touch with reality. You need to respect your body and only then would you be able to accomplish your goals in an efficient manner.
