You’re starving. Right now, as you read this, you are slowly starving to death. If you looked down at your belly and said, “This chick’s crazy, I’m not starving. I’m overweight.” Yes, you are. The very fact that you’re overweight proves you’re starving! Huh? Read on.

Why You Can’t Stop Eating and You’re Hungry All the Time

Are you hungry all the time? Do you feel like you can’t stop eating? Millions of people are right there in the same boat with you. Constantly craving carbohydrates, sugars, and fat yet never able to get enough. How could anyone possibly scarf down an entire bag of snack chips only to get hungry again an hour later?

Simple. Snack chips aren’t food.

In the past 50 years or so, we’ve gone from eating real food to eating food-like products. These food-like products offer the same savory and fatty taste of the meat we used to dine on only with none of the actual nutrition.

When you eat junk food, you get an addictive and flavorful burst of salt, sugar, and trans fats that fool your mouth and brain into thinking you’re eating something nutritious. Once these food-like products get into your digestive system, where it is supposed to be broken down for nutrients to be distributed throughout your body…you get hungry again.

Suddenly, your body realizes there is no actual nutrition to distribute and your brain sends signals your body that you need more food.

This is why you can’t stop eating. Your body is desperately craving nutrients it never gets. The synthetic chemicals and additives in the junk food you eat keep making a promise to your taste buds that it can’t really fulfill.

Eating a diet made primarily of food-like products is the nutritional equivalent of eating some great-tasting gravel or cardboard. It may fill your stomach but it doesn’t give you the nutrients you need.

Also, you don’t just crave more and more junk food because it has no nutritional content. It contains synthetic chemicals like MSG, high fructose corn syrup, and trans fats that are designed to be addictive. To make matters worse, these additives also interfere with proper neurotransmitter function, hormone function, and insulin regulation, leading to constant hunger and weight gain.

Pre-Packed Diet Meal Plans are a Scam

If you’re having trouble losing weight, chances are you’d tried a diet plan or two. Frozen portion-controlled meals are very popular because they help you lose weight without having to think about it too much. The problem with them is that, like the junk food you eat, they’re also slowly starving you.

Most of these frozen meals are very calorie-restrictive. This means they only reason you’re shedding pounds is because you’re not eating enough calories to sustain your weight. Unfortunately, eating this way puts your body into what’s known as “starvation mode”. This can happen easily when you go from taking in massive quantities of sugar and fat to suddenly switching to a 1,000-calorie-a-day diet.

Your body is designed to hang on to every bit of fat it can in times of scarcity. Just because you’re now surrounded by more food than you can possibly consume in a lifetime, doesn’t mean your system have evolved to catch up.

Another problem with these frozen meals is many of them contain the same food additives found in junk food. Not helpful if you’re trying to lose weight and actually keep it off.

Just because the say you’ll lose weight or you’re money back doesn’t mean you’re still not getting swindled. Of course you’ll lose weight. You’re not eating very much. But as soon as you stop the program, you’ll gain all that weight back and then some.

Never Binge or Starve Yourself Again

No diet food manufacturer is ever going to tell you what you’re really supposed to do to lose weight. They just want to sell a product they can keep you addicted to. If you want to lose weight the healthy way and never binge or starve again, you have to eat real food.

Real food is the kind of food your great-grandparents ate. Foods like organic vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, legumes, seeds, meat, poultry, wild-caught fish, and healthy diary products like hard cheese and yogurt.

Also, all fats are not bad for you. That’s right. Not all fat makes you fat. According to emerging studies, saturated fat is not the dietary demon it’s made out to be. It’s actually good for your health! It’s the trans fats found in junk food you need to avoid. Healthy fats like butter, coconut oil, avocado, and walnut are great for your health. These fats help you stay full longer while improving your immune system and neurological function. They’re very beneficial.

If you take nothing else away from this article, do just one thing to improve your health and lose weight: Start reading food labels. If you don’t understand or recognize an ingredient, look it up online. Either write it down and look it up at home or check it out with your phone right there at the store.

My rule of thumb is if a food has any more than 5 ingredients, it’s not food; it’s a food-like product that will only fool your brain and starve your body. Put it back. Also, just because you’re trying to eat a more whole-food, preservative-free diet doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy any snack foods.

This is where reading food labels can come in handy. Flip over a bag of your favorite potato chips the next time you’re at the supermarket. Do they contain more ingredients beside potatoes, oil, and salt? Put it back. Opt for a more natural brand instead. You’ll still get that flavorful, salty taste but without all the synthetic preservatives. You don’t need them. Besides, once you realize what the real version of these foods taste like, you’ll never want to go back to the overly-processed version again.

Just don’t quit junk food cold turkey. Junk food has a similar effect on your body as a street drug and stopping suddenly will cause terrible withdrawal. Instead, start by reading food labels then slowly taper off the junk food over the course of a few weeks or months.

The more informed you are about your own food choices, the more successful you’ll be at changing your diet for the better. After that, weight loss will be effortless and you’ll be able to keep it off for life.
