Living with a chronic illness can be very tough. Living with a chronic illness that is not apparent to people around you can be even more difficult. Not only do you find every single day an uphill struggle; you’re also trying to convince cynical people that your perfectly healthy exterior disguises a pain-wracked interior.
UK chronic pain charity, Burning Nights, created this infographic about 10 of the most common hidden illnesses. It is a simple, yet informative guide to conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), fibromyalgia, lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, including the symptoms of each illness and a range of possible treatments.
Many hidden illnesses do not have a scientific cure, but all of them can be helped with certain preventative actions. Those of us with a chronic illness latch on to every action possible that can make our lives a little less difficult to bear, in the hope that at some point in the future, a permanent cure for such illnesses can be discovered.
If you are fortunate enough not to be burdened with any chronic illnesses, please take a few minutes to study the infographic below. Even a small degree of awareness and understanding about these conditions can make a significant difference to the morale of people living with hidden illnesses, who often have to cope with a lack of understanding from others.
