My Review of the TechCare Plus24 TENS Unit – (I Love This Thing!)

I have been given this product as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although the product was a gift, all opinions in this review remain my own and I was in no way influenced by the company.

I remember my uncle relaxing in his recliner one day using a TENS unit for a stubborn pain issue. I asked him what it was, he explained, and he asked if I wanted to try it.

Nope. No way. That was too scary for me.

Well, that was years ago, and when CIB sent out a survey to gauge the interest of bloggers in a new TENS unit, I decided I really wanted to give it a try. I applied three times before I got a chance to use it, and, once it was sent to me—I was still nervous.

Thankfully, my roommate has used a TENS unit many times and was able to help me get started. I remember saying, “Oh, this is weird” a LOT as I experienced the new sensations and played around with the settings.

20 minutes later, my roomie also showed me how to take it off and put it away (there’s an instructional booklet, but I’m a visual learner), and it was only then that I realized my shoulder pain was gone!

I was so focused on making sure I used the unit correctly, I didn’t even realize the pain was gone until the electrodes were no longer on me.

A little background: In 2004, some guy in a sports car rear-ended me, and I ended up with a herniated disc in my neck. Ever since then, my right shoulder gets inflamed and spasms, sometimes with incredible force. I can go from 0 to 8 in pain levels in as little 20 minutes, and it can be debilitating.

Usually, when this happens, I grab my shiatsu massager and lay on it, allowing it to dig into my muscles and knead the pain way.

The shiatsu is effective, but there are drawbacks:

  • I cannot do anything while I’m using the shiatsu massager.
  • I have to literally bruise myself to get any kind of relief.

TechCare Plus24 TENS Unit to the Rescue

TENS stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, and it relieves pain by using a low-voltage electric current. If that sounds intimidating to you, I understand. I felt the same way.

The good news is you don’t feel an electric shock of any kind. Instead, you experience different pulsing, tingling, and muscle movement sensations, depending on the settings you use.

Unlike my shiatsu massager, I can use the TENS unit and still get some work done on my computer. After a few moments, the pulsing, tingling, and gentle muscle contractions fade into the background while I do my thing.

The muscle contractions are how your muscles are massaged with a TENS unit. Instead of an outside force like a massage therapist or a manual massager, the electrical impulses safely and effectively contract and loosen your muscles from the inside.

There are six settings on the TechCare Plus24.

They are:

  • Kneading
  • Swedish
  • Cupping
  • Scrapping
  • Reflexology
  • Tai-Chi

Each setting provides a unique sensation. Some of the settings produce rapid muscular contractions (as though you are getting a vigorous massage), other settings accelerate gradually, providing a less intense experience.

I have found that ‘Reflexology’ and ‘Tai-Chi’ are my two favorite settings.

The TechCare Plus24 comes with:

  • TENS unit
  • Instruction booklet
  • Charger
  • 4 electrodes (2 large, 2 small)
  • Two long wires
  • Box

The 3 Important Ways a TechCare Plus24 Tens Machine Treats Pain

  • The TENS unit provides a deep inner massage that relieves chronic pain in a convenient and natural way.

  • Research has shown that a TENS unit can increase the production of endorphins, your body’s natural painkillers. This means that, in addition to treating the pain you have now, it may decrease the severity of any pain you have in the future!

  • Studies have shown that the application of a TENS machine can help reduce inflammation. This is another wonderful benefit, as the less inflammation you have, the less pain you will have to endure.

Note: It’s important to read the instructions carefully before using your unit. While safe, there are certain parts of the body on which a TENS machine is not meant to be used. Furthermore, if you have a pacemaker, you should avoid using a TENS machine of any kind.

I highly recommend the TechCare Plus24 TENS Unit. So far, I’ve used it successfully to treat my chronic neck, wrist, and ankle pain. It’s affordable even to those on a budget, very easy to use, and an ideal way to reduce pain and inflammation without the unwanted side effects of prescription drugs.

This is especially beneficial when you have somewhere to be or something to do and you’d like a way to relieve pain without becoming drowsy.

It’s also a great way to help your body heal itself, which is something that prescription pain medications will never be able to do.

Don’t wait and wonder any longer. You deserve lasting relief. Get your TechCare Plus24 TENS Unit today. The only thing you have to lose is pain!
