A little over a year ago, I wrote a post entitled, Spoonies: Why You Should Go to the Doctor Looking Like Sh*t. It was one of the most popular articles ever on my site, and I was quite proud of how well it did.
The sad fact is, how you look when you go to the doctor’s office really does make a difference in how you’re treated. In other words, whether you are actually taken seriously or not.
Apparently, if you dress up, put on makeup, and use cologne or perfume, your doctor will take that into consideration and may not believe you’re struggling with a chronic illness, or, at the very least, will think you are exaggerating your symptoms.
I’ve been making videos of me reading some of my more popular posts, and I decided to give this one a bit of a Halloween spin with the title and creepy graphic.
The message remains the same: The worse you look, the more seriously doctors will take you when you’re trying to get treatment for a chronic illness.
