I have been given these products as part of a product review through the Chronic Illness Bloggers network. Although these products were a gift, all opinions in these reviews remain my own, and I was in no way influenced by the company.
Two years ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing The Fay Farm Serenity CBD Lotion, and I loved it! This year, I’m back with two more reviews of their amazing products. One is a hemp oil lotion and the other is a warming muscle rub.
The Conditions I Live With
One of the things I love about CBD products is their versatility. I live with a multitude of conditions that would (and do) take several different medications to treat.
For one, I am autistic. Not that CBD oil would treat or cure that, BUT it has helped a great deal with other symptoms that go along with being on the spectrum in a largely neurotypical (non-autistic) world. For example, PTSD, OCD, and depression.
In addition, I also struggle with chronic neck and shoulder pain due to a car accident I was involved in 15 years ago. While the pain is not constant, when it does flare up, there’s not much I can do but pop some painkillers, put on the TENS machine, and pray for it to pass.
As if that wasn’t enough, I have trouble with digestion (common in autistics), and I also have sensitive skin that’s prone to breakouts.
So, when I was offered another opportunity to try this company’s products, I was delighted!
First, some information about each product:
The Fay Farms’ Healing Hemp™ CBD Lotion
This lotion is designed to provide relief for neuropathy, nerve pain, eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, and other autoimmune skin disorders. It contains soothing, calming, and healing ingredients created by nature.
For example, it contains chamomile, which is a powerful skin soother and anti-inflammatory. It also contains argan oil, which has been shown to reduce the signs of aging. In addition, this lotion contains 200 milligrams of hemp oil extract, which acts as a natural pain reliever, nausea reliever, and immune system regulator.
Full ingredients list:
Purified water, hemp oil, grape seed oil, apricot kernel oil, emulsifying wax, stearic acid, argan oil, 200mg hemp oil extract, burdock, calendula, chamomile, chickweed, comfrey, licorice, nettle, plantain, St. John’s wort, essential oils, gluconolactone and sodium benzoate (a certified organic preservative).
Furthermore, this hemp oil is all natural and contains no phthalates and no parabens, so you can feel confident using this lotion on your skin each day.
The Fay Farm HOE Warming Muscle Rub
The muscle rub is designed to soothe muscle aches and pains with organic herbs, rich phytonutrients, both warming and cooling essential oils, and 50 milligrams of hemp oil extract. This muscle rub may also provide relief for cluster and tension headaches, as well as migraines. (Avoid contact with eyes.)
In addition to the healing hemp oil extract, this muscle rub also contains cayenne pepper, a powerful anti-inflammatory that has gained recognition in multiple medical journals. It also contains arnica, a homeopathic agent that provides soothing relief from muscle soreness and bruising.
Full ingredients list:
Sunflower, castor, herb-infused olive oil, beeswax, shea butter, menthol, camphor, 50mg hemp oil extract, cayenne pepper, arnica, essential oils of rosemary, eucalyptus, peppermint, ginger, cassia, and clove.
My Experience With the Fay Farm Products
The Healing Hemp Lotion
The Healing Hemp Lotion has a refreshing and earthy scent with more than a hint of peppermint. It absorbs quickly, it’s not greasy, and I’ve been using it as an everyday lotion after getting out of the shower.
While this lotion doesn’t have the same effect as the Serenity lotion I reviewed two years ago, this one gives me a very light sort of calm feeling.
I have to say that I don’t notice a large difference in my skin, but that’s because it’s not full summer here yet. I have a feeling this will be very good to have around when I get heat rashes and sunburn (I only have to spend about 5 minutes in the sun to get a rash).
Furthermore, insects love me for some reason, and my immune system overreacts to their bites and stings, so I know I’ll be glad to have this lotion during the hottest months of the year.
The Warming Muscle Rub
I enjoyed using this from the first time I tried it. When I feel a muscle spasm coming on, I use a generous amount of the rub and massage it into my shoulder and neck, and it seems to stop it in its tracks if I get to in time. I would say the most primary scent in this is eucalyptus, which is very pleasant to me. This particular essential oil is helpful since I suffer from allergies and my chest tends to feel tight this time of year.
So, when I use it for my neck and shoulder, it helps ease some of my allergic discomfort, too. Bonus!
I have to say I didn’t feel any “warming” sensation on my skin, but since I use much stronger rubs like Tiger Balm and Icy Hot, this is probably why. One of the things I absolutely love about this rub is not the rub itself, but the tin it comes in.
It’s so easy to open!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to use my weak hands to pry open a tin that’s vacuum sealed and wanted to throw it across a room in frustration. This tin is a simple screw top, so if you’re already in pain and irritable, what’s supposed to help you won’t make it worse!
I’m undecided about the lotion since I feel I need to use it more, but I would definitely recommend the muscle rub!
